Remote Notarization (RON): The signer personally appears before the notary (over the internet) at the time of notarization using secure audio-visual technology, vendor approved by the state vs. being physically present in the same room with the Notary Public.
Electronic Notarization: The signer personally appears before the Notary Public in person, and documents are notarized in electronic form using either an iPad, laptop, or computer instead of signing hardcopy documents. The Notary Public and signer both sign with electronic signatures.
