Untangle And Grow Counseling

Therapy/Counseling

There is a time for complexity, and there is a time for simplicity. Between them is balance, which I try to work from and towards.

Growing up here as a native of the SF bay, I have seen the technology advancements and shift from nature that the bay has gone through and its struggle to find a new balance. My own journey mirrors this transformation, from a boy who was diagnosed with a learning disability that discourages growth, to an adult who graduated with a Bachelor in Creative Arts degree from San Jose State and a Master in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology.

That accomplishment alone is not the only part of my identity nor challenges that I’ve had to face on this path. As an African-American man, I’ve faced challenges of racism.  And as a gay man, I’ve faced the challenges of homophobia. Yet it is through my spirituality that I found myself on the path that has led to the achievements that allow me to provide service in helping others find balance and growth in their lives.

I have provided six years of service through CHAC www.chacmv.org  and Cassy www.cassybayarea.org, where I was a school-based counselor for elementary, middle school, and high school students.  In addition, I have worked through CHAC’s community clinic, providing counseling services to individuals, couples, adolescents, and groups.

Untangle and Grow is the next evolution on this path. In providing counseling services for people to find their own balance. This is with the hope of becoming untangled from the shadows that hold them and growing into the light.
